Vocational Journey By Entering Into Postulancy
EUOLOGY SR.JOVITA 20/01/2025 It is indeed a painful and sorrowful time when we bid the last time farewell to let go of our loved ones for good to become one with the Lord. Yet at the end of a well lived life, on retrospection, we the family of Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes, along with everyone whose lives have been touched by Sr. Jovita Noronha, come around the table of the “Great Thanksgiving to God” our hearts filled with cherished memories and gratitude. Though words cannot encompass the fullness of her life, they remind us to acknowledge the abundant blessings of God we received through the life of this extraordinary woman. As the Scriptures proclaim, “I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write this: Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.’ ‘Blessed indeed,’ says the Spirit, ‘that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!’” Truly, Sr. Jovita’s deeds speak for themselves and will continue to inspire generations. Born Delphine Noronha to Mr. Louise Noronha and Mrs. Maria Louise Noronha on November 18, 1941, in Bellor, Mangalore, Sr. Jovita embraced her divine calling with courage and commitment at the tender age of 22. She joined the Tarbes family in January 1964 , marking the beginning of a life devoted to God and service to others. The milestones of her religious life the first profession and perpetual profession were in 1966 and 1972 respectively. Her life services in our congregation have been entirely for the mission of education and administration in education. She was a teacher in our institution in Coorg for four years. And she was part of Jyoti Nivas from 1977 till her retirement in 1999. Even after her retirement her administrative skills earned her great responsibilities. She was the Registrar of St. John’s Medical College and Hospital from 2000 to 2005 Administrator of KROSS from 2005 till 2010 She was also in charge of IGNOU( Indira Gandhi Open University Jyoti Nivas for five years from 2011 till 2015. Her services have been quite significant for the society and our students Sr. Jovita was a pioneer, a visionary, and a cornerstone of the institution she served so faithfully. Her tenure as Principal of our college for an impressive 16 years was marked by remarkable progress, groundbreaking initiatives, and an enduring legacy of excellence. Under her leadership, the college achieved outstanding academic success, established its reputation for holistic education, and witnessed the transformative impact of her strategic vision. A great academician,Sr. Jovita combined her sharp intellect with her compassionate heart. She was a dynamic leader and an efficient administrator, who balanced discipline with encouragement and nurtured talent with unwavering commitment. Her deep faith made her a woman of prayer, and her spirituality was evident in every decision she made and every interaction she had. Sr. Jovita was my teacher in this college. In later years both of us taught sociology. We were closely associated for many years as my own sister of Tarbes family, my teacher and my principal. Her passing is a personal loss for me as as well for my other sisters. But I feel grateful and privileged to have known her, lived with her worked with her and now to be part of this service for her here. As we know her Sr. Jovita was more than just an educator; she was a kind-hearted sister, a mentor, a nature lover, and a true friend. Her love for sports showcased her spirited nature, and her disciplined approach to life was balanced by her warm and approachable personality. She valued integrity, humility, and service, embodying the ideals she instilled in others. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom and the boardroom. She built a community where everyone felt valued and empowered, leaving an indelible mark not only on the college but also on the lives of countless students, colleagues, and friends. She was a distinctive and distinguished stalwart who laid firm foundations for Jyoti Nivas College for the journey towards excellence on the road of our mission of education. A trail blazer her true grit to take Jyoti Nivas to greater heights has paid us rich dividends. The rapid growth of Jyoti Nivas which began in the sixteen long years of her leadership, is being sustained until today. We owe a lot to this awesome sister of ours for being a pioneer who ventured on many novel endeavours to make us fly high like the eagles. She herself is like an eagle who soared high courageously watching out alertly for right opportunities Sister’s outstanding personality had a class of it’s own. Today, as we bid farewell to Sr. Jovita, we do so with heavy hearts but also with profound gratitude for a life so meaningfully lived. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and dedication, and her legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps. We thank God for the gift of Sr. Jovita Noronha and entrust her soul to His loving care, confident in the promise of eternal rest and the reward for her labors. May her life’s work continue to shine as a beacon of hope and inspiration. Rest in peace, dear Sr. Jovita, until we meet again.
